On April 10, 2022, part of our team went to the banks of the Marne. Accompanied by friends and children, they put on gloves, armed themselves with tongs and garbage bags with a very specific objective: to depollute.
Like the German association called KRAKE*, we wanted to take our responsibilities and especially take the time to express our gratitude towards nature. York found out about this association through one of his former colleagues, when he was still working as a graphic designer in advertising, "it was important to me to pick up waste. Instead of doing it alone, I preferred to find out because I suspected that I was far from being the first to come up with this idea". This is how our author-illustrator met Christian Stock, actor and president of KRAKE
How was KRAKE born?
"I was filming in Nepal in 2014 and I saw how much the locals threw their waste into the river," explains Christian Stock. A real awakening that followed him until his return to Germany. Quite naturally, the activist actor began to clean up the banks of the Rhine. At first, he acted alone, then with a few friends before launching an appeal via Facebook, "because I don't want living beings, present in our rivers and oceans, to die because of our waste." The association has now existed for more than two years and has more than 270 members. Every weekend, around 50 per year, KRAKE organizes garbage collection actions that bring together 40 to 90 people on average, "during special events we reach 800 people."

The association does not stop there, since it carefully keeps all the waste collected in a "Müllseum", a garbage museum. This is where York went with Mission H ₂ O – The Explosion vol. 1 under his arm. "Our motivations are similar, StarPeace and KRAKE are a perfect match" concludes Christian Stock. An agreement that inspires us, since our two entities plan to meet at a joint event during which you too will be welcome.

*K = Kolner (Cologne) / R = Rhein (Rhine) / A = Aufräum (to clean) / K = Kommando (commando) / E = Enheit (unit). KRAKE is therefore "a Rhine cleaning commando unit in Cologne"
